Danielle Rivera

Police responded to a parking lot on Delano Drive where a man and woman were found dead Saturday night. The St. Clair County coroner identified them as Danielle Rivera, 40, of Swansea, and Xavier Harrison, 30, of Belleville. Police think Harrison shot Rivera, then himself. The coroner said Rivera and Harrison were pronounced dead at the scene at about 11:40 p.m. Both died from gunshot wounds, and Harrison’s appeared self-inflicted, the coroner said. While police are still investigating, Cahokia Heights Police Chief Thomas Trice said they are “confident” it was a murder-suicide. “This is a case of domestic violence that turned tragic,” Trice said. Rivera was found inside a car and Harrison was found outside. St. Clair County Court records show Rivera was granted an emergency order of protection against Harrison in April.
