Normandy police Chief Tameika Sanders said in a press release that Jody Jordan died Aug. 13 after "punching his way inside" a home in the 4200 block of Smithfield Place. Home surveillance showed Jordan on the porch, carrying a gun with an extended magazine. Residents had called police to say they were being burglarized by a man holding what looked like a machine gun. As officers drove to the home, the call was updated to a shooting. Sanders said police found Jordan inside the home, shot numerous times. Jordan, 42, of St. John, was taken to Barnes-Jewish Hospital, where he died. Her department's description of the homicide was in the form of a two-page press release posted to Facebook after 7:45 p.m. Wednesday. The post includes a 25-second video clip from the home's surveillance camera. The video doesn't show the shooting, and it doesn't show Jordan bursting into the home. It shows him waiting on the porch with a gun in his hand and saying, "I don't want no trouble" and "Hey, ya'll got something of mine." Family members of a homicide victim are upset that police released a surveillance video of the man entering the home where he was shot before talking to the family about it.
