Gallagher's

Looking for a dining-themed day trip? Head east to picturesque downtown Waterloo, where Gallagher’s has made itself a destination for its excellent fried chicken. Sunday is the big day, when all-you-can-eat chicken and family-style sides are a ridiculously reasonable price. Not in the mood for the crowds this inevitably draws? Fried chicken is on Gallagher’s daily menu, as are sandwiches (the fried, housemade bologna is my favorite), burgers and, for dinner, steaks and other larger entrees. Gallagher’s is about a 45-minute drive from St. Louis proper; if you want to get a little more out of your trip there, after your meal, walk over to Waterloo’s relatively new craft brewery, Stubborn German Brewing Co.
