Urban Chestnut Brewery & Bierhall

Urban Chestnut executive chef Andrew Fair continues to raise the bar for brewpub food in St. Louis. The heart of the menu remains German fare (bratwurst, currywurst, pork-knuckle and pork-schnitzel sandwiches) and beer-friendly slam dunks (pommes frites, mussels), but on a recent visit I was equally impressed by the spicy Italian sausage served over a rustic white-bean stew with garlic, rosemary and white wine. Meanwhile, at Urban Chestnut’s new U.R.B. (Urban Research Brewery) nearby, Fair offers New York-style pizza by the slice.
