Christmas in Kimmswick

The shops will be decked out in their holiday splendor, carolers will be strolling the streets and horse-drawn carriage rides will be available. Historic building tours will be offered in candlelight provided by the Kimmswick Historical Society. And don’t miss the Christmas Cookie Walk. 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 1-2 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 3.

Be sure to stop at

On the chance you need even more Christmas spirit, the Christmas Haus will take you there year-round with more than 40 decorated trees. The Kimmswick Visitors Center at 314 Market Street has maps and public restrooms.

Grab a bite to eat

The Blue Owl Bakery & Restaurant, 6116 Second Street, has been featured on the Food Network, the Travel Channel, “Today Show” and in O Magazine. Go there for lunch, and after a day of shopping stop at the Delta Queen Port of Call for dinner. It's Cajun and homecooking and housed in a log cabin that dates to the Revolutionary War.

Getting around

The town is just a few square blocks, flat and easy to navigate. Plenty of street parking is available. The Blue Owl has its own parking lot.
