St. Charles

If historic downtown St. Charles' brick streets, historic buildings and river views aren't enough, imagine them decked with holly and filled with characters (Santas from all over the world, Jack Frost, Tiny Tim), carolers, a parade and more.

Christmas Traditions

Storybook characters walk the streets of downtown, interacting with kids and handing out their “cards” so kids can collect them all (there are about 50). You’ll also find carolers, chestnut roasters and, of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus. Nov. 24 to Dec. 24: 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays; 11 a.m to 9 p.m. Saturdays; noon to 5 on Sundays. Parade is at 1:30 on Saturdays and Sundays; evening processional at 8:30 Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and 4:30 Sunday. These Legends of Christmas are featured in a variety of other events, from Breakfast with Santa and a Yuletide Dinner to elf games and evening readings of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
