Holidays in Kirkwood
On Dec. 7 and 14, Santa will pose for free photos at the historic and festive Kirkwood Train Station, 110 East Argonne Avenue, from 5 to 7 p.m. Several nearby shops will stay open late on both nights, and a live reindeer will accompany Mr. Claus on Dec. 14. Planners recommend arriving by 6:30 p.m. for photos as the average wait time is 30 minutes or longer. The big elf will return on Dec. 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Grab a bite
It’s worth a detour from the main shopping drag in Kirkwood to enjoy some fresh pastries at Nathaniel Reid Bakery, 11243 Manchester Road. Or pop into McArthur’s Bakery, 210 North Kirkwood Road. In Webster, warm up with some chips and salsa at Milagro Modern Mexican, 20 Allen Avenue, and then top it off with a scoop of homemade ice cream from Serendipity, 8130 Big Bend Boulevard.

Plowsharing Crafts is volunteer-run and sells handmade goods from developing countries to support local artisans, 137 West Jefferson Avenue. If you’re planning a winter getaway or just looking forward to summer, visit Fun in the Sun, 121 Kirkwood Road. In Webster, Euclid Records’ rare albums and CDs are a treasure trove for any music lover, 19 North Gore Avenue. Bicycling nuts should roll into the Hub for accessories or new wheels, 40 West Lockwood Avenue.
Christmas in Webster Groves
The annual Holiday Cookie Walk will be Dec. 9 in the Old Webster Business District, which runs from Elm Avenue west to Lockwood Avenue to Rock Hill Road, and on North Gore Avenue from Lockwood to Kirkham Avenue. Participating shops will give out cookies and recipes.
