Shanchez Jordan, 40, was found dead Feb. 3 on a sidewalk in the city's Dutchtown neighborhood. He had been shot in the forehead. Jordan lived in the 4100 block of Lafayette Avenue. Prosecutors later charged Anton D. Moore, 32, with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the case. Police found a .380-caliber cartridge casing at the scene in the 3300 block of Gasconade Street, on the south edge of Marquette Park. The police lab linked it to another shooting case, where a witness had identified Moore as the gunman, according to court documents. Before Jordan was killed, he received a phone call about a meeting, police learned from a witness. Police said the call came from a phone Moore uses. Another witness told police Moore admitted killing Jordan. Moore lives in the 4100 block of Michigan Avenue. He has been held in jail since May 3 when he was arrested in a domestic assault case.
