The Kitchen Sink

This restaurant has closed

The Kitchen Sink closed in late June 2017. Anthony Ellerson Jr., the owner and chef of the Kitchen Sink, takes chances. Not the sort of chances that normally attract the attention of the food-obsessed, but he’s no less brave for that. He opened the Kitchen Sink in a less than ideal location, and his cooking — a mashup of Cajun and Creole fare, diner grub and bar-and-grill food — resists easy categorization. But his over-the-top burgers and the restaurant’s namesake dish, shrimp and grits smothered in a tasso-crab gravy, deservedly won fans. He moved to a much bigger space and then added a second location downtown. Now, he has consolidated operations at the downtown restaurant, a space just off Washington Avenue — an address that, just walking around in the area, you could easily miss. Don’t take that chance.
